Pearson, Susan. "Animals and Children First: A History of Humane Societies." Chicago Humanities Festival. Northwestern University, Chicago, IL. 7 November 2013. Web. 20 June 2016.

Summary

In the lecture Susan was talking about how in in history there wasn't a place you could go to to seek help with child abuse cases, only animal shelters. In the story she told if the little niece didn't suggest the animal shelter to help the little girl in the story wouldn't have gotten help and that wouldn't have been very good. And after that they came up with a new place where people could report cases of child abuse. And that was the start of the humane society.

CRAAP

The video was posted on November 7, 2013. The history of the Humane Society is definitely related to your topic, so yes it does help. The Chicago Humanities Festival put this video on youtube and it has currently 456 views. Susan sounded unbiased and she sounded like she had good sorces because thats what topic she specializes in. i think the purpose of this video/lecture was to inform us how the Humane Society was developed and how even when younger you can have a big impact by just being yourself.

Reflection

This video helped me understand more about the history of the Humane Society, and that is good. I agree that if something bad or dangerous or hurtful is happening to a child somebody should definitally intervene and stop them, becasue no child or animal deserves that kind of treatment.

"Horse-riding group helps keep White Earth kids on trail to success." The Bemidji Pioneer. 13 November 2011. Web. 27 June. 2016. bagosendaan

Summary

The article was about a young woman who hadn't really had much confidence and how bagosendaan changed her life for the better. Bagosendaan is a 4H horse riding program in Mahnomen county that helps kids who normally wouldn't have a stable and safe environment where they could be themselves to have that. Bagosendaan checked on the students school attendance and grades, and gave them random drug tests to ensure that they were clean. The word bagosendaan means hope in our culture.

CRAAP

The article was published on November 13, 2011. Yes thios website is relavent to my topic. this article was written by the Bemidji pioneer. The purpose of this article was to inform others about the program. its not really supported by evidence because its just about her personal experience with the program.

Reflection

Its interesting to hear about the experiences with the program five years ago, as opposed to what its like now. I was surprised by the similarities of the program now to back then. Personally knowing and being apart of the program has helped me understand more of what I'm reading now.

Durant, Jacqueline. Personal interview. 28, June 2016.

Summary

I interviewed my sister Jackie because she is in the bagosendaan program and she has been for 5 years now. The said it was important because it gave her a chance to focus on one thing instead of all the other problems in life. Getting to stay with the same horse throughout the program lets you develop a special bond with your horse and that really helps the kids that are at risk of drug and alcohol abuse.

CRAAP

The interview was current because it just happened this week. Its relevant. Its accurate because she is part of the program. the information was all true as far as Jackie is knowledgeable.

Reflection

It was useful to me because I wanted to know what she thought about the program. I agreed with everything she said. I think that the interview was G.

Reflection

I believe that the article was very imformative about what they do not only with riding horses but how involved they get in the kids' lives, and I think that their talking circle that they have after they're done riding are very good for the students involved in the program and to help them help others in their community and boost their own self confidence.
